Assuming you purchased this from Costumechest, we make sure all are fitted with fresh batteries. The battery compartment is in velcro pouch near the mane. There is a small plastic tab that prevents the batteries degrading while in transit, simple pull this tab and then the unit can be activated by pressing the button sewn into the ear.

Hi the suggested age is 3 upwards. The costume has adjustable straps so if able to fit a wide range of ages but the child needs to be a certain height so that the legs dont drag on the floor.
