This translates into the power from your hand gets easily feed through this hinge system and through to the cutting area with only the minimal amount of squeeze of the hand needed. The handles are large and this means they are easy to hold and also with the aforementioned hinge system, you don't need to squeeze as hard as you can in order to get them to cut. If you hand limited strength in your hands, then I think you would still be able to apply enough pressure to cut the toenails, due to the design of these clippers. At the end of the handle is a little latch which keeps the clippers/handle closed when not in use. The build on these looks like it would last a lifetime. All stainless steel and built (like most things German made) to last. My Mother has in the past, had a little bit of trouble from her nails in growing a bit. My Mother told me that the Podiatrist had a little tool that allowed them to scrape away the dry skin in the corners of the nails and also, lift the edge of the nail where it was starting to in-grow.
