That did improve things, but didn't cure the problem. Some days later, I can pick up the guitar and play it straight off without tuning. The buttons are smaller than the PRS ones, they could be swapped if you don't like the look, but I don't care. I did that with a PRS SE Custom 24 and a Michael Kelly, Les Paul style guitar that I upgraded. **Q: Fit a Gretsch g5222 ?** A: Yes! **Q: Can you purchase larger tuning keys for the tuner?** A: Yes type in the search for “Grover tuner buttons” The regular rotomatic buttons are larger and the hipshot buttons should fit as well **Q: will these tuners fit a 1981 les paul fire brand guitar ?** A: They would work, but Les Paul guitars use Kluson tuners so the mounting holes on the Grovers will not match the original holes, and probably won't completely cover the existing holes. Also the holes in the head-stock may be a different diameter. You would be better off replacing the original tuners with these: Kluson Revolution 3X3 Locking Tuners, Keystone Buttons - NICKEL, for sale on Amazon for $88.79 with Perloid buttons which are probably like the originals, and will install without modifications.
