Does one need a table saw?** A: For a basic installation, which is the one that I made, you need 4 sheets of 3/4" X 4' X 8' and 2 sheets of 1/4" X 4' X 8'. Table saw is not needed but pretty useful. I went to Home Depot and they cut 80% of the pieces needed, they don't cut anything under 12 inches. I had to cut the other pieces with a table saw, very useful since the cuts were really straight. **Q: when finished, approximately how far does the cabinet stick out from the wall? (i.e.: how deep is it?)** A: 16", per the instructions. However, most people these days have pillow-top mattresses, which the instructions do not account for. You would have to modify the cut list by adding about 2" of width to the vertical panels to fit most pillow-top mattresses. This would make the murphy cabinet protrude about 18". Doing so would add any additional sheet of ply to the cut list the hardware manufacturer provides-- for budgeting purposes. **Q: How tall are the legs?** A: From the floor to the bottom of the bed it is 6" from the floor to the board the mattress sits on is 91/2" , we used a 14" thick mattress on ours and from the floor to the top of the mattress it is 22" . Hope this is a help to you. The bed is quite a chore to build but we really like it **Q: Can i use this to make a twin xl bed and what weight can this support up too?** A: No you can not as it is.
