It can be used when preparing your EB, but keep in mind that you will have to lift the filled box up & out of the stand. Assembly is pretty simple--you just attach the legs using screws, washers, & nuts. A small flat wrench & Allen wrench are supposed to be included for assembly--mine was missing the flat wrench. I just used pliers to hold the nut on when I tightened the screws.If you're growing tomatoes or other tall, heavy crops, I'd skip this stand. I elevate those EBs with a couple of cinder blocks--this stand would be too top heavy & likely to blow over. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Picture looks wimpy, product is not wimpy *by J***. on Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2012* I bought two Earth Boxes and two of these stands because I have back issues and I didn't want to deal with stooping. I was irritated that the stands cost around the same as the boxes and look flimsy in the pictures, but I have to say these guys are solid. The parts don't fit together like a precision machine but they don't really need to - wiggle the bolts around a little and you can assemble one of these in no time.They are sturdy even when a loaded EB is placed on them. No wiggling, no worries that the stand will buckle or tip over, at least not so far. When I was prepping and planting my EBs I was leaning down hard for several steps and that was not a problem.These don't come with casters but the ones that came with my EBs slide right in to the legs of the stands. I expected a firm CLICK into place but there's not one, you just slide them in until they stop and then they're installed. Ever the pessimist, I expected the casters to be too wimpy to support the stand and the loaded-up EB but I was wrong again - you can give a push and it will sail across the porch on the casters. Two of the set of four EB-supplied casters have wheel locks, a good thing.Oh, and they are a very dark green, matching the dark green EB very well. The illustration on AMZN shows them as a much brighter shade.You can add these later but they made the setup and startup a lot easier for me that it would have been had I not had them. Recommended if you don't want to squat to work with your EB and don't have another solution like a shelf or something.Now for tomatoes and other climbing things, these may not be the best idea because the fruits of your labor would require a ladder to get to.
