After reading reviews, and having previously used this companies other products both in ponds and aquariums, I bought this Pond Filter Starter Gel to give the new box filter media the best chance of colonising good bacteria and other organisms quickly (I had also added some of the old media from the old filter so there was a small amount of good stuff already).I probably added way too much of this stuff to the box filter media but was happy to read that you can't really over dose. There was only the very weakest of blue tinge to the water afterwards and that dispersed within a day or two.Now it's been about 2 months since the new set up was installed and the water quality (fully tested as well as visually) is spot on. The fish and plants are all happy in their new bigger environment and the filter is chugging away doing what it should.This gel was so easy to use and I have loads left for any top ups in the future. It might be a bit more pricey than other similar products, but yet again, Pure provided an excellent product that did exactly what I wanted it to do with the minimum of fuss.
