That may have been wishful thinking. Thus was also during the winter months when our windows were closed. In this hot summer when windows are open most of the day, I would guess it will take longer. Advice given to us was to give it four weeks. If no improvement, then it probably wasn't going to work. Thankfully it did. Please don't expect overnight Improvement like some say happened. **Q: can you plug this refill into the diffuser that you use for the original feliway refill?** A: I bought plug and refill to be on safe side . It does appear to be different so not sure on correct answer **Q: What is best for conflict between cats in the home, feliway friends or feliway optimum?** A: The one that has been around for many years worked well in most cases. I think that ongoing research has tweaked the actual synthetic pheromone. However a couple of points: cats are cats and in some cases they just won't get on. That is not common and from experience in my veterinary practice most clients got an improvement and some complete bliss, but if finances allow then use it for life. Minimum 3 months. The biggest reason that aggression continues is because the underlying cause hasn't been found. There may be a cat they see outside and that brings out pecking order anxiety taken out on the other indoor cats. Don't forget that cats, unlike dogs (and humans) don't have a set pecking order for life and will naturally challenge the others to become top cat for a while. Always see your house from their prospective: draw a floor plan and mark where you see each cat. One might use one side of the stairs, never the other; one sofa, or the floor near it. Only by working out micro-zones can you then make sure litter trays and food bowls are in each cats zone, not all in one place...the kitchen is only a kitchen to humans! And most importantly, if you don't draw a plan you might put the Feliway in an area deep inside one cats territory and that won't help. **Q: Had this for a couple of days now and the unit gets extremely hot. I couldn’t be happier. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product but not without problems, particularly positioning *by D***G on 18 April 2017* Three warnings in the instructions that should be noted before you buy this product: 1) it may take up to a month to work; 2) there is a risk of fire if you use the diffusers with an extension cord or an older, lose socket, and it does give off an odour for the first 24 hours; 3) it can be fatal if swallowed and inhaled (and since it's at ground level to dogs and toddlers but can't be hidden by furniture, this is a real risk). My personal experience was that it worked within a few days once if found the correct spot. Without using extension cords, it was very hard to find a spot that both had a socket and was somewhere that the cats hang out a lot but wasn't covered with furniture etc. Once I did (and I had to use an extension cord to do it), the product showed visible effects within three days. There was a smell at first but that vanishes after the first day. The biggest problem that I had was that my dog is a scent hound and he was instantly in love with this diffuser. I found one good spot for it, left the room, and returned to find that he had eaten it, swallowed most of the contents, and was munching on the diffuser. As it turned out, he was fine. It went down so fast that he didn't inhale it and with a lot of water/worry/dry food it went right through him.
