## Description

Intense development have resulted in the most dependable, durable and portable solution available, that is both conveniently detachable and reusable! In professional film and TV productions, there's always a bloke holding a stick with a cat on top of it. He's called the boom operator. The stick is the boom and the cat is a microphone wearing a massive afro wig. The wig stops the wind bodging up the soundtrack.Enter Micromuff, essentially a kitten to mount on your SLR's mic and eradicate whooshing noises from your footage. It's made of high quality acoustic fur (no actual cat, we believe) and attaches with supplied Velcro rings. Before your next shoot make sure you have your Micromuff at the ready.

Review: A great little muff - This micromuff was really easy to apply to my camcorder. I purchased it as my small Sony camcorder doesn't have the ability to attach an external microphone, and sometimes I'm out and about vlogging etc., and have to record without too much setting up time, so I decided this may help with the wind noise. I can notice a difference in audio quality, it definitely seems to cut out wind noise quite well when it is just breezy. For me if the wind picks up, or if there are gusts these still get through. But I don't expect a miracle from such a small and simple wind muffler. I leave it on my camcorder all the time. It is so small it takes no room up really, so there seems no need to take it off (and run the risk of losing it), although as it is attached with velcro (you place the sticky-backed velcro over the microphone holes - in my case I've got rectangular arrangement of microphone holes so bought the rectangular shaped muff, then the actual muff velcros to the piece stuck on the camera) it is easy enough to remove and replace, but this does seem unnecessary, and I suspect doing this often could result in gradually pealing the stuck down velcro off the camera which would then somehow need to be restuck...
Review: Simply attach the fur bit on the Velcro and you’re good to go - I’m starting to get a grip of recording video with my Sony DSC-HX300, but the type of footage I shoot is normally outdoors in open spaces (motorsports), which often results in lots of wind noise. I should really have bought a camera with an external mic input, but I didn’t so I was looking for a way of reducing wind noise with what I’ve got. I stumbled across this item and whilst the price seems high the results justify it. You basically get a small piece of fur and some Velcro, which depending on your camera, might need a bit of a chop to get it to fit over your camera mic. Simply attach the fur bit on the Velcro and you’re good to go. I’ve tested this in some fairly blustery conditions and am really impressed with the performance. It cuts out the majority of the wind noise, whilst still picking up the audio you’re trying to capture. Remember, your camera mic is unlikely to be of great quality to begin with so this won’t suddenly transform your audio into broadcast quality, but will certainly improve it to a much better standard. Overall, a good item albeit slightly high in price.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this fit the stereo mic on the Canon Powershot S100? Thanks :)**
A: To help you, I tried to see pictures of your camera, but I can't figure out just from these. So it is better to tell you the dimensions of it. On the camera you will have to permanent stick the velcro ring, on which the micromuff skinny will be attached. It has outer dimensions 3x1,7 cm and inner (where there is a rectangular hole for the microphone holes) is 2x0,8 cm. So see if it fits to you.To help you I can tell that also in my camera (Sony HX300) I had problems. The velcro ring didn't let the flash pop up.So I cut and removed half of it, but still the muffler can be attached without problems and stays inspite the wind.Hope I helped you.

**Q: What if my mica are separated by the flash for example the Sony a5000**
A: You might be able to use one each side of the flash?

**Q: Hi, the ad states that it works on dslr cameras i have a canon powershot sx40 hs the mic is on the side, will i be able to use this micromuff?**
A: I'm not very sure about this camera because I don't have this particular model. So I decided to looked up your Canon Powershot SX40 on the internet. 1st off, if your budget allows' It looks like it would be best to purchase an external Rode Microphone with a Dead Cat Sock for this camera. But I also saw the built in internal microphone holes on the side of your camera. I would say it seems that you can place a micromuff on it. I don't see any reasons why not, it just might look really awkward having a furry looking thing on the side. But, other than that I would say do it-try it out-test and see how it works out for you... check out micromuff.com they have more options that might be better for your camera than the micromuff skinny model. They have the micromuff original, and the micromuff fat boy models as well. Compare and see what might work better for you. It's a pretty simple system, just stick on the velcro around your microphone holes and slap on the micromuff when needed. You can also trim to fit, if it's too large... it makes a world of difference blocking the wind noise outside on a windy day. You could just peel off the micromuff and stick it back on when needed. It's not permanent due to the velcro system around your microphone holes. Just stick it on, or take it off... or you could just leave it on indoors or outdoors, it's all up to you... it doesn't make a difference when leaving the micromuff on and recording a video indoors or outdoors... the only thing you have to worry about is making a wise decision on which micromuff model you think will best suit your camera. Hope this helps!

**Q: Has anyone used this on a Sony RX100?**
A: I have used the with a Cannon G7X wich is very simmilar in lay out to the Sony. If you place the sticky bit over the mic port first before peeling the back off, you will then be able to know were exactly to trim it down properly to get the maximum effect for using it by not blocking the mic port. Use a pair of scissors and then trim down, peel back and stick on the bottom velcro bit, and then do the same with the wind muffler, attacht the two, and hey presto

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simply attach the fur bit on the Velcro and you’re good to go

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good product. A few bad points but solutions included below.
*by H***K on 7 September 2015*

This is a good product that really does work to reduce wind noise (By about 80%). The only downsides are as follows. (I am using this on a Canon G7X for vlogging by the way.) *You have to cut the velcro part that sticks onto the mic otherwise it is too long to fit and covers the pop up flash and power button. A quick trim sorts this out though and does not affect the "Stickyness" of the velcro. *When vlogging with the screen up to see yourself, the muff covers a large portion of the screen so you cannot see yourself properly. I find myself taking it off a lot due to this. I have though come up with a semi-solution. Flatten the muff as flat as possible over and over and the muff shall lay a lot flatter. This will reshape the muff and only cover the very bottom of the screen. *The Muff is no miricle worker, It will work in light wind, but not in heavier winds. It simply is not thick enough. For what it is though it's massively worth the money. I hope this helps.
