I looked at installing remote hard-wired valves but the cost of the multi-core cable alone was going to be horrendous. High end systems multiplexing control onto single cables are also way too expensive. So I needed another solution. These valves use Zigbee (a wireless system a bit like WiFi) and they genuinely do work at up 100m as claimed so long as you site the base unit sensibly, I've put ours at the top of the roof (inside). The hardware us well made, they are easy to set up using the app and they seem to work well. The near real-time feedback of water flow is very useful as you can see immediately if something is amiss. The app for programming them works fine although it is not great to use. They have clearly spent the money on the hardware, not the software! Don't get me wrong: everything is there and it does the job, it is just a bit clunky. So more expensive than WiFi valves, and probably overkill for a small garden or just a few pots. But if you have something larger this kit will do the job for Β£100s of pounds (assuming several valves) rather than the Β£1000s or even Β£10,000s it would require for a traditional "central controller plus multi-core cable to remote valves" solution. Review: Excellent system - Excellent system. ## Features - Attention: To use LinkTap water timers, a LinkTap Gateway (not included) is required. One Gateway can control up to 15 LinkTap watering devices (G2S, G1S, D1, T1, Q1, ValveLinker, or any combination of them) - Dual-Zone Wireless Water Timer with Weather-Adaptive Control – Manage two independent watering zones with one device, replacing two G2S timers. Control your irrigation system remotely via mobile/web apps, with automatic weather-based adjustments for water conservation - Leak-Proof Garden Watering System & Real-Time Alerts: Protect your garden watering system with 24/7 flow monitoring. Receive instant push notifications for leaks, clogs, valve failures, or device disconnections - the ultimate failsafe for your smart hose timer setup - Smart Hose Timer for Beginners & Experts: Meet every watering need – from small gardens to large lawns & yards. Instantly start/stop water flow or program multi-cycle schedules by date, duration, and volume. Works with drip lines, sprinklers, and custom irrigation setups - Smart Anti-Freeze Protection: Automatically opens the valve when temperatures drop below a preset threshold, preventing ice buildup and reducing the risk of pipe damage - Aerospace-Grade Composite Inlet: High-modulus fiber with metal-rivaling strength. 100% lead-free & rust-proof. Never seizes to faucets like brass inlet. Self-adaptive threads ensure a leak-free seal without Teflon tape. Built for ultimate durability - Reliable Zigbee Mesh Network: Utilizing a proprietary Zigbee protocol, this system offers wider and more reliable wireless coverage than Wi-Fi hose timers. For large yards or complex terrains, the LinkTap Extender enhances coverage, creating a robust mesh network - Easy Setup: The Gateway is hardwired to your router, ensuring a stable and secure internet connection with plug-and-play simplicity.
