I have made three of the recipes so far and each one turned out perfect. Of course I read the book cover to cover and I read the instructions several times before I started. No pictures needed. All you need is a brain that can follow the simple step by step directions directions, the ability to use a scale properly, and the ability to read the labels on your ingredients. I have made cold process, hot process, and liquid soap this was a breeze! I think it is wonderful to be able to add this to my repertoire. One of the best "how to make soap" books I have purchased. I have no idea which book Chris Redwood (the person who gave it one star) was reading but, it certainly was not this book. I'm always looking for ways to save on costs, so I invested in this book. It gave me a greater appreciation for the work that goes into making my soap base and discouraged me from making my own. It is thorough and explains the process well, but I currently use too little base for my small handmade batches to make an additional investment in equipment and large quantities of ingredients. This may not seen a re positive review, but I am grateful. If you like to cook soap from scratch it would be a great guide. If, like me, you are uncertain, order a copy from the library.
