Manual augers don't work well, and they require a lot of strength and time. I considered bringing a portable drill and a sand auger bit to the beach with me recently - I know that works! But it seemed like I was over-engineering the solution. Looking for an alternative, I found the Sand Gopher here on desertcart and thought it was worth a try - certainly the price was right. And...it worked brilliantly! I confess to being surprised. I think that claiming 30 seconds to excavate a 15" hole in the sand is perhaps over-optimistic. But it never took me over a minute, and it was really easy to do, too. Once you're down that far, your umbrella stays put, especially if it has an auger on the end of it. Fellow beach-goers were in awe, and several whipped out their smartphones and ordered their own. The flat metal teeth on the end eroded away after just a few uses, but it really didn't seem to impact the effectiveness of the thing. Perhaps slightly more robust construction would help. But it's perfectly fine as is. I'm never going to the beach without it. We live near the beach and go frequently, and among the most annoying parts is beach tent setup. It feels nearly impossible to get the stakes deep enough in the ground that the wind won't blow our tent over. After a very frustrating set up, I took to the internet in search of a solution. Insert: sand gopher. This was exactly the tool I needed! It effortlessly digs out the perfect little holes for a variety of different poles and stakes. I dig holes for all of our beach neighbors every time we go now. This is a must-have tool! Best $12 I've ever spent. ## Frequently Bought Together - BEACHBUB Sand Gopher - Aluminum Sand Digger Tool - Make Firm Compact 15'' Holes for Beach Umbrella, Sand Anchor or Base, Beach Umbrella Accessories, Alternative to Beach Umbrella Drill or Sand Auger - AMMSUN Beach Umbrella Hanging Hook,4-prongs Plastic Umbrella Hook Hanging for Towels /Hats/Clothes/Camera/Sunglasses/ Bags,Fit for Beach,Camping Trips Blue - AMMSUN 13" Beach Umbrella Table Tray for Beach, Patio, Garden, Swimming Pool with Cup Holders, Snack Compartments White --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.ke/products/379203533-beachbub-sand-gopher-a-beach-umbrella-accessory](https://www.desertcart.co.ke/products/379203533-beachbub-sand-gopher-a-beach-umbrella-accessory) --- *Product available on Desertcart Kenya* *Store origin: KE* *Last updated: 2026-10-13*
