**Q: I just bought a 10 year old road bike with campy centaur groupset.  want to replace the chain.  will this work?**
A: If the Campy groupset on the bike you purchased is 10-speed, then yes, a Campy Veloce 10-speed chain will work.

**Q: Will the 10s work with a 7 sp cassette?**
A: It should work fine with your 7 sp cassette, but be careful about compatibility with the rear deraileur and shift system. The pitch (distance between successive link joints) is the same. What makes it a "10 speed" chain is that the sides of the links and the rivets are thinned down to fit the closer spacing of the cogs in the 10 speed cassette. This might be an issue if you have any sort of click-shifting arrangement that displaces the derailleur a pre-set amount with each shift. The narrower width chain may not want to climb up onto the next cog until you move the derailleur a smidge more.

**Q: Will this work on a 1990s 8 speed cassette? It’s 12t - 23t**
A: Hi Julie C, you can usually get away with using a more narrow chain if it is a single cassette segment.  Matching the chain width for different year campy products is important. I am running an 11 speed chainring with a 10 speed chain and cassette fine (note the chainring works since it's more narrow than the chain).  Campy made changes on the 10 speed models making it very difficult to mix and match.  Generally Campy is compatible one speed away 10 to 9 speed.  I have used KMC on my older 8 speed campy.  I recently rebuilt a bike (campy 8 speed bike) using the KMC 8 speed chain and it worked perfectly.
