The most awesome CPU cooler you can buy, period.
OK,I have a massive workstation, custom-built Quad Core 2.6GHz with 4 GBs of DDR2 RAM and two super ATI Radeon 2900XTs in Crossfire with quad-pathed 512 MB GDDR3 each (which I tweak into overdrive on occasion, but usually, even when playing Day of Defeat in HD, its at default clocks because there is enough video horsepower).I had a regular, comes with the processor Aluminum fins with the fan. Those A fins are tiny and tightly packed, often clogging up with dust.~ CPU Temp during normal desktop idle - 50C~ during normal desktop use - 56-60C (the high end with Excel using allfour cores running calculations)~ during gaming in HD - 66CI come to Amazon to shop for an alternative. Because even with Arctic Silver compound (which has excellent thermal transfer) I would be near the boiling point.Automatic thermal protection shutdown was enabled. Good part - saved the Quad Core. Bad part - trashed my iPhone updated in progess and had to restore it and re-download all the apps today)Zalman arrives just in time (picked slow shipping, cheaper). I open the box and right away I can tell this is one of the best products I have ever purchased (next to the new Sony 52 inch HDTV 240Hz - {insert grunt here}).This thing is not mil-spec, its like NASA grade. 100% pure copper and it is enormous!! Make absolutely sure you have the case space to install this monster of a cooler. Wow, simple yet perfectly designed. The giant fins and the radius of the space the fins are perfect to displace the heat. It follows the First Law of Thermodynamics to a tee.Why is this cooler two or three times the price of others?!? The manufacture is dealing with historically high copper prices, so costs have gone way up. But copper is the perfect metal to use, so, if you really want a good thermodynamic response - use pure copper. Now, installation is NOT for beginners. WARNING!! Go back and re-read that first part. You MUST install a back grid under the motherboard where the CPU mount is located. This requires deassembly of the entire computer to perform with most cases. This unit is a heavy object in the computer and it must be firmly pressed to the top of the CPU cover to press out the thermal grease and create a good thermal gateway. If you need help, go to a shop or something and have some install it for you. It is well worth the $50 bucks. I did it myself (I am a pro geek).CPU Temps with the massive Zalman installed!!Idle desktop - 30C which is EXCELLENT the S.M.A.R.T monitor says the temp is actually too low, funnyNormal ops desktop - 36-38CWith game in HD running (along with Rhapshody, iTunes, Outlook PTRG and Y!IM running on the second desktop) - 40C with all GREEN in the S.M.A.R.T. monitor with the fan running at ~2446RPM.If you have a tower system with high end CPUs and video cards - BUY THIS CPU COOLER! Can't go wrong (as long as it fits your case!)

First Time PC Builder and I'm a girl and can install this!
The media could not be loaded. This was the fan I bought for my Intel Extreme Quad. QX6850 Intel Cpu Core 2 Duo Qx6850 3.00Ghz Fsb1333Mhz 8M Lga775 Extreme Tray The processor was used but given as a gift, so I had no choice but to get an aftermarket fan since I wasn't given a cooler. I was aware of the cpu prone to heating, so I went with this fan.I really had no problems following the instructions for installing this cooler. They were clear enough. I only had a bit of trouble because the fan is HUGE. So I was careful about installing the bracket. I just kept myself grounded and used cardboard (those Amazon boxes come in handy) while installing it to the motherboard. If you do not have the right kind of cable management tower, you will have to take the motherboard out to put in the supporting bracket behind the motherboard. I'd say you'd still have to do it due to the weight of the device.I installed this inside an Atec 300 case. I really advise making sure you have the right size case since this is a large cooler. It may also help to have a pair of gloves if you have sensitive skin prone to cutting as the blades can be a bit sharp. (I wasn't cut once during the installation).Whether or not you need to use Artic Silver is debatable as my CPU temps are around 20-25C on idle. The grease is like nail polish, and I advise just coating one side. either on the cpu side or heatsink side of the fan is good enough. I've watched enough videos before doing this build to know how much to put on.I used a Gigabyte Motherboard so the only bit of trouble was fitting the 8 pin ATX while assembling the PC. I just had to be aware of some wires, but I got used to it now.Are there some troubles installing the cooler? Yes. Was it really hard to install? No. Let's put it this way. I have never owned my own PC, while I have have been around desktops at work, I never had one at home for the 11 years I've left home. So from scratch I was able to research and get the right parts around that Intel chip, including the fan. I've assembled the this unit myself. I got about all parts except the PSU (The Apevia Warlock in this video) and some memory from Amazon.com. On top of that, I'm female! If I can assemble a PC from scratch with this huge thing, so can you.

Great CPU Cooler and straightforward to install
After I had to return the Shuriken Scythe because I couldn't get the pins to lock though the mounting holes I used the stock Intel cooler to get my new PC running. I was getting CPU temps of 40 degrees which was OK but following my good experience with the Zalman Z9 case (he first Zalman product I owned) I looked at their range of coolers. What attracted me to this cooler were the positive reviews, the amount of copper used in the cooler and the fact it uses a mounting bracket rather than pins for Intel sockets. The Intel mounting bracket was straightforward to install and while the cooler looked very large outside the case, it fitted fine. The mounting bar was a little fiddly but once one end was started it was fine, although it did take a little force to get the screw started in the other end.Two tips: you may want to attach the CPU fan header first depending on the space in your case; and use the fan speed control that comes in the packet. At 2800rpm the fan is very loud but it cools the CPU to 20 degrees (from 40 degrees) With the fan throttled back to 1400rpm the fan is nice and quiet and the CPU is still only 22 degrees.

Zalman CNPS9700 led CPU Cooler
Everybody should know how good this Cooler is, My old i5 was really overheating, the Alpine fan was not up to it, so with my Nu-Build with an i7 I had to look for something better, with my new Aerocool case I could go for a tower cooler, then I saw this Zalman, apart from being beautiful, that's the engineer in me, it keeps my cpu under 35c,I installed the fan on the Mobo then installed the Mobo and fan attached into the case, my Mobo is horizontal, it was the easiest way to do it, but whichever way you choose, you will have to uninstall your Mobo to attach the cradle that you put the fan on, I used some folded paper to the width of the cooler and held with 2 elastic bands, this protected the fins, also saved my fingers. I can totally recommend the Zalman CNPS0700

A very good and low noise fan cooler
I installed this so a second fan blows into it from the side which means the air going into the cooler is being rammed into it while it's own sucking action is like a second stage on a jet going in to re-heat. I have two more fans on top sucking the heated air out. The overall effect is the temp is running at 39/40 degrees average. I love it. The only thing that makes me twitch is, its a big cooling heat sink and the load when bolted to the MOBO is considerable since it's at right angles to the perpendicular MOBO in the case. Zalman suggest that the cooler is removed if one transports it. I thought about rigging up some kind of sling fixed to the top of the case. But, having said all that it is a knock-out cooler at a really good price and looks as sexy as hell with the four red and blue fans though the observation window in the side of my box

Simply amazing
Ordered this to cool my new FX8350 on an Asrock Extreme 3 970 mobo. Initially bought Scythe Grand Kama Cross Rev B but returned it do to its downright appalling mounting system. This was its replacement. Mounting was fine, simply coat the CPU in a nice amount of the provided grease and plonk her down, feed through bracket and push tight using the clip. Easy and quick.Got it cooling the CPU with all 8 cores full speed ahead on Prime95. Temp has been 39 degrees C now for at least half an hour and has stabilized, even with a case with fairly poor airflow. I also imagine this will decrease when gaming due to less use of cores. Can't recommend this beauty enough, 5/5!!

Zalman CPU COOLER
This must be the best CPU cooler I have used. I have had a lot of over heating problems with my computer and I have used a number of different CPU cooler but they never kept my computer cool.Until now with this zalman very easy to install takes around 5 or 10 mins. The good thing with this CPU cooler you can adjust the speed of the fan.so if your CPU is running a bit hot you can adjust the speed to keep it cool. I would recommend to any one looking for a very good CPU cooler
