The assortment is nicely varied, with graphite, black charcoal, colored charcoal, and carbonne pencils. I especially like the colors: the blacks of the carbonne, pierre noire, and charcoal are super dark and the sepia and sanguine lay on thick. The white is a little disappointing, however. They sharpen pretty well, but they don't get to a tiny point other than the graphite pencils, which is good for shading. The set generally smudges nicely with tortillions for shading purposes.
