Bar's head gasket repair liquid mixes with coolant anyway so you don't really care if you do it before or after. The point is you must have enough space for the Bar's stuff to get in the system. You have to remove a quart of coolant from the radiator so it can accommodate the Bar's liquid when added. If you are adding pump lubricant then you have to remove more coolant.
