Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Precise, stable heating with excellent safety features - The Fluval E200 electronic heater has been rock solid in my aquarium. What really sets it apart is the temperature stability and accuracy. Once set, it maintains the water temperature extremely well without noticeable swings, which is critical for fish health. The digital display is clear and easy to read, and I appreciate being able to adjust the temperature precisely instead of guessing with a dial. The heater reacts quickly when the temperature drops and shuts off properly once the target range is reached. Build quality feels premium and well thought out. The protective casing adds peace of mind, especially in tanks with active fish. It also feels safer than traditional glass heaters thanks to its internal safety features. Pros: • Very accurate temperature control • Clear digital display • Stable heating with minimal fluctuation • Strong safety design and quality build • Ideal for medium to larger aquariums Cons: • Higher price than basic heaters • Takes a bit of space in smaller tanks Overall, this is a reliable, high-quality heater that’s worth the investment if you care about consistency and safety. Perfect for anyone upgrading from basic heaters or running a larger, more sensitive setup.
Review: Easily the best heater I've used in my 40+ years in the hobby - I spent a LOT of time figuring out which heaters to get to replace my eheim jager heaters that I'd used for 20+ years. In reading all the reviews of every heater and trying a bunch of different ones, the E series from Fluval was far and away the winner. I have been in the hobby 40+ years and have had that dreaded moment when you come home to a tank of dead fish b/c the heater malfunctioned. NO ONE in reviews for this heater had talked about that when I started shopping, and with the 8 I now I have, I can report the same - NO PROBLEMS - my tanks stay where they are supposed to! I've also had glass on heaters break - becoming a live wire in the fish tank. With these heaters - again, NO PROBLEMS - and the reviews support it. This heater is strong, and built to be nearly indestructible. I've also had, and always had, heaters that became difficult to adjust over time. That would slowly heat to a lower or higher temperature, and that became very difficult to adjust. This has led to disease outbreaks due to temperature fluctuations. With this heater - I've again had NO PROBLEMS! Most of the complaints I saw about this heater were due to seeing LF - Low Flow blinking. I figured, if that was the biggest problem I'd have, then this heater was a HUGE WIN, and it has been. Not to say I haven't seen the dreaded LF indicator, but, I would state that I've always been able to address it. I run canister filters on all of my fish tanks and on all 8 of them, changing how the water flows out of the canister filter in the tank has resolved the issue. Sometimes it takes some fiddling - I'll give you that, but all 8 of mine work perfectly and when I see LF - I know something has changed in the tank and is causing issues (for me - typically it is related to large plants blocking flow). I LOVE the always on display, like love, love, love it! At a glance I can tell if there are problems in temperature. I also appreciate how easy it is to adjust temperature, just flick the switch left or right and you are good. Easy Peasy. In the end - I started with one, and slowly, over 4 years, have replaced 8 or my 10 heaters with these, and I couldn't be happier. They are easily the best heater I've had in my many years keeping fish. That said - I do have 2 complaints. 1 - Replacing the rubber suction cups is currently very difficult b/c Fluval doesn't make replacements very available. 2 - It is very difficult to clean the heater housing if (when!) it becomes covered with hair or brown brush algae. Neither of those things are deal breakers for me, but are worth mentioning.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Just can't seem to adjust the temp. It flashes 77, but the temp stays at 75. Why?**
A: I was having the same problem, though mine was stuck at 74.5--it stayed blue and never got higher, though it was set to 77. I called Hagen, and they said try unplugging it for 10 minutes, then plug it back in to see if that helps. It didn't; they'd said if that was the case it was defective and to return it. Mine was <1 week old.

**Q: I just bought this item September of last year and it wont let me adjust the temperature after the initial setting when I first had it**
A: So you move the adjusting orange dial/thingy and doesn't change temp? Some times you have to move it all the way, let it return to the neutral position and the move it again to and so on. If that doesn't work, it may be faulty, contact Fluval, these have good warranty.

**Q: does this heater go in the tank**
A: To clear any confusion, the heater is fully submersible to 39 inches. The photos in the instruction showing tank placement are misleading. The ones marked with an X means do not let it hang by the cord and do not just lay it on the bottom of the tank. Rest assured that the unit is sealed well and you are better off fully submerging the unit to prevent water evaporation from negatively affecting the heater.

**Q: Will I have "low flow" problems running only sponge filters?**
A: Your air pump running the sponge filters circulate the water. The pump power will determine whether or not there is “low flow.”

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fluval E 200 - Best Aquarium Heater I've Ever Owned
*by K***B on December 23, 2018*

First off, I'm a Mechanical Engineer with 31 years of experience and have a considerable amount of experience related to heat transfer. I've also kept aquariums for 36 years and currently have 3. I've had a Fluval E 200 watt heater in a 75 gallon tank for almost 3 years and it's performed flawlessly. I've read tons of reviews stating the low flow warning is a problem, but that warning is an attribute of this heater. Tank heaters are very compact for the amount of heat they generate and must exchange the heat to their surroundings efficiently or they'll burn themselves out. Just imagine grabbing an old fashioned 100 watt incandescent light bulb that's been on for several minutes .... now imagine that it's a 200 or 300 watt bulb! Also think about the fact that the largest portable space heater you can buy and plug into a standard 120 Volt wall receptacle is 1500 watts. That'll give you a perspective of how much energy 200 or 300 watts is. So yes, you absolutely need water flowing over the heater to carry heat off as opposed to it only heating the immediate area and then shutting off. My 75 gallon tank is fully covered and is in my basement which is typically 63 - 66 degrees in the winter and this 200 watt heater has always kept it within 1/2 degree of the 77 degree setting. I've had many different tank heaters through the years and will never buy anything but these again. As many others have said, being able to just glance over and see the green display indicating that the water temp is within 2 degrees of set point is very nice! I literally look at it every night before going to bed and casually glance at it during the day without even focusing on what the temp actually is. I'm sure many have had defective units but these heaters are wonderful when functioning properly. Oh and I put zero value into reviews stating any heater won't work when the operating conditions aren't given. How many gallons is the tank, what's the ambient air temp, is the aquarium fully covered, etc, need to be known to evaluate whether sufficiently sized. Putting a 1500 watt heater in a well insulated 300 square foot room in your house will keep it toasty; putting that same heater in your outdoor shed in the winter ..... won't help much. One last thing, I'm absolutely not a fan of putting a heater that's considerably larger than required in a tank as I've seen advised many times. All heaters will eventually fail and if it fails in the on mode, I don't want to cook my fish. I'd much rather have 2 smaller heaters in a tank than 1 over sized heater. That way if one fails and won't shut off, the other heater either won't come on at all, or will intermittently cycle to make up what the stuck heater can't do. Heaters are designed to work and will last just fine even if they run a majority of the time. In fact many products will actually last longer if they can just run as opposed to "short cycling" as when they're considerably over sized. I have a Clown Loach that's between 8 - 10 years old and I have no intention of allowing a faulty heater to kill it or any other fish under my watch.
