I honsestly thought this had been a product return that was re-sent. I couldn't find the connecting wire. And the lower-mass weight on the front end of the arm seemed out of place somehow. I almost returned it as missing parts until I looked down at my shoes under my desk and there was the wire. Rolled and wrapped up with a rubber-band, I didn't even see it fall out of the package, or notice it inside from the outside. It was late, I'd worked two back-to-back shifts 14 hours each and with sleep apnea, well, I wasn't really thinking clearly. Next morning, bright-eyed and fully caffeinated, I took a second look at what I had, READ the instructions - again - and had this up and running in about two minutes. Hardest part was getting two spade terminals onto the ground wire point on my preamp at the same time. Balancing? EZPZ. Sliding the weight a bit forward to BARELY get the goat or whatever sacrificial animal's hairs to ALMOST dig into the grooves to the arm would track and whaddya know... an album I had played just a few short days earlier was QUIET in the quiet sections, NO static pops OR cockatoo dander snap crackle and popping at random. While most of the dander/dust problem I've worked my way around, whatever little bit was left was GONE. Even more, a colored vinyl disc on a deerskin mat seems to be the WORST combination for static cling, but there wasn't any. So pros: Easy to set up. Works as advertised. Any troubleshooting tips on getting this to work?** A: If you are talking about balancing the weight, in order for it to track well. I would suggest making sure that the base is positioned so that the brush is centered on the spindle of the turntable when it is swung in all the way. This makes the tracking speed much less dependent on how the weight is adjusted. I hope this helps. **Q: Is there any way to set up the anti-skating on this broom? It seems to always veer outwards no matter how much vertical tracking force I put on it.** A: Make sure the brush is tightened properly to the arm. I am by far an expert, my brush did the same thing, but this fixed it for me. Also make sure that the brush is the right height. I don't know if Hudson would approve of this, but setting it so the arm is slightly higher that level with the arm. This seems to give the brush more weight. Install when fully rested for best effects. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Product should include an armrest for its brush arm *by D***I on July 20, 2024* This record cleaning brush has a carbon fibre bristle core (and grounding wire, that you usually connect to your amplifier) that helps drain static electricity from vinyl records, as they spin. It neutralizes much–– but NOT ALL––of the static cling that attracts dust and creates clicks & pops as a record is being played. After playing, the disc needs to be removed, flipped, or changed; which means the anti-static arm has to be swung out of the way, of course. However—unless you spend the time to REMOVE the anti-static arm from its stand, and tuck it safely away—your brush tip will probably end up resting somewhere on a dirty part of the turntable, while you’re changing your records! A more useful & practical addition would be to include an integrated, adjustable ARMREST for the brush, so it doesn’t touch anything when not actively being used. When the brush’s arm is swung off the record and placed on the armrest, it would serve to keep the brush tip suspended ABOVE the turntable surface and prevent the brush from getting dirty, or unnecessarily worn.
