Will the black one get run down buy the friction of rope, over time??** A: Basically, yes, but the coating is very tough and lasts a long time. I bought one almost a year ago and have used it for both rappeling and tree work. The black finish is still there where the ropes slide. Some of the ones I still have from my rescue and recovery days are in surprisingly good condition.
