When the the two bolts that clamp down on the bike's steerer tube (sometimes called a quill) are tightened, the stem riser will no longer move up or down. I thought I might be tightening the bolts too much, so, I broke out the torque wrench. The instructions state that these bolts should be torqued to 13-15 Nm. I wasn't even close to tight enough.A few comments. The system seems to be squeezing the riser and locking it in place. Now, I have two stems, both require 5 Nm to clamp onto the steerer tube. This device requires 13-15 Nm. Even testing at 4 Nm, the riser was locked in place. Why this requires so much pressure makes little sense. The Steerer tube is not carbon fiber, it looks and feels like a mild steel, so I don't think that should be the problem. I made sure the part was in place properly, so I am sure that it is not clamping to high on the steerer tube.In the end, I had to just place it at the most likely position for use, and tighten everything up. I would have returned the item as defective, since it can't do what I it is specifically designed to do, but then the bike would be down for a few weeks until I replace the parts that had to be "removed" to install this part. See, once you try to use this product, you have eliminated the ability to go back to your original setup. You have to pound the star nut deep into the steerer tube (which is very easy btw). Once this is done, you will need to purchase a new star nut and press it into the tube to use standard equipment again. So, I'm stuck.Definitely not "Easy up". It will not be a "tool-less" adjustment. It will require nearly complete disassembly to adjust. If it had worked, I probably would have rated it a 5 star. I gave it two stars because I can still adjust, but I was looking forward to moving it between a more aerodynamic low position and a comfortable high position while out on a long ride. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pleased, but some issues... *by I***D on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on September 8, 2013* A fantastic product with poor instructions for non-mechanics. The instructions do not explain that the "Tighten Ring" is how the Satori Stem applies compression for threadless forks in place of the star-fangled nut that you have to displace to install this product. So after I installed it, my fork was wobbling around yet the instructions provided no guidance on how this likely problem can be resolved. So I took it into a bike shop and the mechanic figured out how the Satori stem applies the missing compression.To inform the consumer how fork-compression is replaced and thus how to resolve a wobbly stem, instruction Step 4, which reads exactly:"(4) Use Allen key to push the 'Tighten Ring' (With Tighten and Loosen Mark on it) to Tighten Direction until you could not move it. Then tighten the screw."SHOULD instead read:(4) Use Allen key to push the 'Tighten Ring' (With Tighten and Loosen Mark on it) to Tighten Direction until the fork is stable. Then tighten the screw."While this product says "No special tools" I had to purchase a long enough hex screwdriver to reach down the stem to take out the bolt that was in the star-fangled nut that has to be hammered down the stem. But after some initial hassle, I'm very pleased with this product! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another perspective *by G***D on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on March 9, 2012* With all due respect to the other reviewers, I feel they've missed the mark completely. The packaging clearly states: Tool-less height adjustment, which is true. You simply release the QR lever and set the height to where you want it, then reapply the lever. No fuss, no muss, no tools. Nowhere on the package does it say tool-less installation! To expect that is quite silly actually, since the step-by-step pictograms that support the (admittedly substandard) English directions show the tools needed. If a small amount of brain power is applied to the directions, they are easy enough to understand. To wit, I'm no bike mechanic, but was able to install and adjust the unit in less than 25 minutes. The preload for the headset bearings is much simpler to set than the conventional method as well, just turn it until it stops. It adds weight, but then again I can't imagine weight being the concern of a bicyclist buying this product. The Easy-Up does exactly what it says it does, and it looks and works like the quality device it is.
