It is absolutely possible to follow the games and instructions without additional tools like a chess board. With most chess books I need a chess borard for following the analysis. Not so with this one. There are enough diagrams, showing the critical positions (in the analysed game as well as in the variants). And imaging the board from one diagram to the next is quite similar to what is needed in real games, too. So, the book being designed for reading without chess board is probably one thing I like most. 2. The author - grandmaster himself - shares a lot of personal thoughts and insides, especially with his own games. A game is always a subjective thing. So, explaining subjective ideas and plans is a very good thing. It reminds me of the writing style by Lev Polugajewsky in "Aus dem Labor des Großmeisters" (volumes 1 and 2) I have read almost 50 years ago. For me this style makes it much easier to grab the ideas. 3.
