(Obviously yes but upvote this to the top so people can see it and fix their problem!)** A: Yes. Matter of fact: I could not get it to work when this was connected directly to my laptop. ..After alot of investigation and stumbling... I found a very small blurb mentioning usb hub (2.0)... Connected an old usb 1 to 4 and Connected this to 1 of the 4 usb2.0 jack's and viola!! It work's!! [ A Flawless-Victory ] **Q: I have a windows 10 hp spectre and this device will not connect. the light stays red. any suggestions?** A: Make sure you're connecting using a 2.0 USB port on your HP Spectre laptop. The device is not recognized if plugged into a 3.0 USB drive. I had the same problem on my Dell, luckily it's got 2x3.0 USB ports and 1x2.0... The company that makes this device doesn't make that clear on the packaging or super obvious on their website (though I did find that answer there). I went to this site https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP and downloaded the latest driver available on both of my computers (Windows 10 64 bit and an older Acer laptop with Windows 7 64 bit) Once the driver was installed, the EX adapter worked as it should. Saved me a HUNDREDS of dollars!!!! *by P***E on March 1, 2026* My 2020 Mustang has stiff suspension. The adaptive cruise uses a radar sensor that has two ball mounts and a singled lower bolt bracket. One of the ball mounts popped loose pushing the sendsor out of place which disabled adaptive cruise and automatic emergency braking. Quickly diagnosed the issue with the scanner. --- Then applied for a 2 month free extended license (just search "forscan support request" copy in your scanner ID and they'll give you a 2 month trial!) --- - With the extended license I was able to run the Radar Alignment "Service" drove the car above 30mph for 5-10 minutes and the "Radar is not aligned" message disappeared!!! Service successful! and I've driven it a few times and the Adaptive Cruise works perfectly! --- --- This $70 it saved me a trip to a radar servicing center or worse a dealership that would've charged me HUNDREDS on top of costing me time which is precious! --- Compatible with most Ford Vehicles 1996+ (including mazda, lincoln & mercury) Installed the forscan software on a Windows 11 laptop and it worked perfectly. It provided perfect information I needed to resolve my issue.
