So far, all the ones I've tried work great. I was really surprised how fast they "revived" once I added water, they are impressive. My mom is a Elementary school science teacher and took some to show her class. I did leave one in water a little too long and it got moldy within a few days but if you remove it from direct water contact after it opened I don't think that would happen. Also, of the 4 I got there were huge ranges in size. Didn't bother me at all but if you're buying some to be symmetrical be aware. And when opening the package, it dropped Chinese dirt everywhere so don't open it in the middle of the kitchen like I did.
