This is one heavy, quality box. We both agree it is water proof & the size is large. I was surprised by how tall it was and how heavy the lid is. It is around 45 inches tall once the lid is on. I bought yellow permanent markers that would adhere to plastic and traced over the word "Packages" and it came out beautiful. See the picture. It also came with a little tiny sign that you place on the front of the box below the lid that states, For Deliveries-Lift Lid to Open & Hold. I was so happy to see that as I thought I would have to buy some sort of a custom sign with directions on how to use the box. I do agree with other reviewers that there should be some sort of a mechanism to keep the lid open while dropping packages. I don't know what happened with other reviewers saying they couldn't put this together and saw what one reviewer did with making a mistake of not putting in the small shelf first before the larger shelf, but I chalk it up to them not understanding the directions. My husband had no problem following the directions. I feel that you must be mechanically inclined to put together products and be able to understand what you need to do. My husband was taking his time and drinking coffee while he did this. Since I bought it though, it has gone up in price by around $20.00. It is heavy enough where if you don't put it together where you are going to place it, you will need a two wheeler hand dolly to move it, especially up or down stairs. I think it was worth it for the price I paid for it. I don't think it will fall over easily at all. We will put something heavy in the hidden floor under the floor and we will anchor it into cement so it goes no where. It does come with some small anchors. You can see the locking mechanism in the pictue. It seems good enough. I would try to put this in site of your home though for better security. We will put some foam at the bottom of the box, so that when boxes are put in it, they won't crash to the floor. Wish that the delivery came by UPS instead of USPS as this box was too big for the USPS truck & too big for the girl delivering it and the USPS is not trained or safety equipped to handle a box of this size so they should not have had to deliver this product to us. However with that said this will be a good box for USPS to use for small to medium boxes. All and All, we are happy with the purchase, quality & price. Nothing was missing, and it went together with no issues. I think it would be easier with two people but I put it together myself. It was an instant hit with the delivery people - had it full of mail, FedEx, ups, etc the same day we put it out. It’s been raining and snowing and everything stays dry. We are sharing it with the house next door (row houses) so we put both addresses on it with stickers. Waterproof means you could dunk this in a pool and no water will get inside. No, this is not waterproof. It is designed to be weather resistant. Which means if you put it on your porch under the eaves, the contents should stay dry. If you have a hard wind and rain storm, the contents may get a bit wet. But nothing like if the boxes were just sitting on your porch. A regular mailbox is weather resistant, not waterproof. **Q: Can this be bolted down? What keeps a thief from simply taking the whole thing?** A: Yes you can bolt it down. It will come with bolts too. It would be some work to just carry it off. It has a false bottom so you can fill with sand. I filled mine with bricks. **Q: What is the measurement of the front edge (vertical) of the lid so I can make 'lift here' letters while I wait for delivery of the box?** A: You have a little over 1-1/2”. I did the same. I am waiting on a plaque that amazon sells that is 3/4x6. It says lift here. I wish it came with address numbers - but I had to order separately. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Horrible assembly (at first) *by T***I on December 23, 2020* The (first) drop box did not come with instructions for assembly. The slide show for assembly on Keter's website is confusing. One good diagram of an assembled box would have saved me hours. I eventually found a cutout picture of the internal mechanism on youtube. I really wanted to return the product midstream of assembly. But you cannot unassemble it. Now that I am finished, there appears to be damage and the internal mechanism does not work. So, I am hoping for an exchange to give it one more shot. Horrible afternoon. Now UPS has returned the product to me insisting that it he put back in the box; it can't be disassembled without breaking it! And that won't be easy either. Frustrated! UPDATE: the exchanged dropbox came with pretty good illustrations and even a sticker. I already knew what to do; so assembly went smoothly. Hence, I upgraded my stars from 2 to 4. The funny thing is that returning the first dropbox was too difficult. You cannot disassemble the dropbox. UPS wants it back in a cardboard box nevertheless. They picked up twice and later returned it twice. Amazon insists they should pickup as is. They even tried to assign their own disassembly team handle it. But apparently it is too light for that department. It sat on my porch a week in the rain. Finally Amazon just credited me for the broken dropbox. I'll be using it as either a recycling container or compost box. Don't mess up on assembly or you'll be in the same boat. I guess the solution would be to purchase a large box for UPS requirements.
