If each step is 15.75" long, how deep/wide is each step? Thanks :)** A: Let me give you a DETAILED description. First off, I don't have the 3-step structure. I have the 4-step one. So, therefore, I cannot tell you what the dimensions are for the 3-step structure shown. So, let's go with what I have. EACH step is 16" wide - i.e. from left to right; it is 7" wide- i.e. from heel to toe if you were stepping up on a landing as if you were climbing up (or down) these stairs. The steps are about 3/4" thick. With the 4-step structure, I've had to TIE a piece of fabric around the columns that support the 3rd and 4th steps because those steps were too wobbly just left alone after the instructions were finished. Then I did the same thing to the columns that support the 2nd and 3rd steps (landings). After THAT, the structure was firm enough to support my cat running up and down the stairs. But, you DO have to tie up the columns; otherwise this structure is just too wobbly. I hope this information helps. **Q: Anyone know the distance between each step?** A: I have the 3-step model and there are 7 1/2 inches from the top of one step to the top of the next step. **Q: Is it possible to order extra “short” legs?** A: I can't really answer this question, other than I know the stairs come in two different sizes, the 3-step and the 4-step. I have one of each. Our aging cat seems to have no problem with either. In fact she doesn't even use the bottom step on the 4 high steps. She jumps down from the second step up. I know dogs tend to be a little less agile than cats. I would say for a dog that has really short legs or can't 'step up' much or at all, something of a ramp might work better..or build your own...??
