Review: Algae Gone! - My 3/4 acre pond had filamentous algae floating around the edges and looked terrible. Our County Agent recommended Cutrine Plus and said to just to treat 1/4 of the pond at a time to avoid killing fish, turtles, frogs, etc. I was nervous using a chemical because I'm an environmentalist and rarely use chemicals. I sprinkled about one pound of Cutrine on the algae. Not much change. I sprinkled another pound a week later. Small improvement. I was thinking it wouldn't work and was afraid I'd have to get a $2500 aereator as a pond maintenance organization recommended. Another week passed and I was going to treat it agan. Lo and Behold....the algae was gone, my fish and turtles were fine and the frogs and tadpoles were too. And I'm happy because the pond is beautiful again.

**Q: Will this granular product kill southern niad in a 3/4 acre shallow pond?**
A: I'm not sure about your type of plant but Cutrine worked to kill algae on my 3/4 acre pond.  It was a mess and looked terrible. 
I used a minimum amount and did a small part of the pond at one time. My pond is clear as can be now and all the frogs, turtles,fish and tadpoles are fine. Good luck.

**Q: Will it get ride of duck weed ?**
A: No, Cutrine Plus does not work for duckweed.  I've used Sonar A.S. for duckweed--works great, but not cheap!

**Q: What size area does a 30 lb bag treat**
A: We have a 1/2 acre pond - I use a hand spreader and only do the outside ring of the pond once every two weeks  - the 30 lbs only lasts for two treatments or one month - if you did the entire 1/2 acre it would take most of a bag

**Q: Will my fish try to eat it?**
A: I have mosquito fish and frogs in my pond. As with similar pond products,  to protect the wildlife I airate my pond with a surface unit to oxygenate the water. Plus never over treat the pond with chemicals.

I treated a 1/3 acre pond and can't say it didn't work because a lot of dead algae floated up from the bottom, but there is still algae in the pond along the sides. In all fairness to the product, this was the first time pond has ever been treated and realize a yearly treatment plan needs to be put in place. The area where it didn't seem to work as well was around the the edges and will probably use a spray for that. In the directions it stated it would treat a 1/2 acre so that is why I gave it 4 stars, because of the edges of the pond. Otherwise, the deeper areas of the pond the algae appears to be reduced or gone. Will treat again per the instructions and stay on a treatment plan.
