Lay it across the bed placing it one hand below the bottom of your pillow. This way the sliding sheet will be mostly under your bum. Your legs and feet will be free to latch onto the mattress and so will your shoulders. The extra hand space helps me in getting into bed as my bed is high and I cannot lift my legs up. So I put my hands on the mattress and one knee and do a jump-flip motion. Can't put both knees as they are damaged and I can't lie on my stomach. Anyway, it works for me. I also secured the far edge of the slide sheet under my duvet. Believe it or not, the duvet is heavy enough to keep it in place. I was able to turn myself with a bit of effort (had to ask help to remove the heavy duvet out of the way.) I can't describe how happy that made me.
