**Q: Dimmable?  My recessed lights were dimmable, but after using the can converter and installing a dimmable pendant, the light will only turn on and off.**
A: The dimming function is normally in the switch, not the fixture.  If you dimmed the previous lights with a dimming wall switch, then the pendants would also dim unless they use a bulb that is not dimmable.  Some LED bulbs will not work with certain dimmers, and most fluorescents are not dimmable.  These converters have no effect on dimming or not dimming.

**Q: When ordering, are the measurements for the cut hole in the ceiling or should it include the trim piece measurement of the can light?**
A: Remove the trim piece and measure the cut hole in the ceiling.

**Q: My housing does not have holes for screwes. I tried to drill holes and it is very difficult. How can I fixed the kit on the housing?**
A: I agree that you can use self tapping screws.  If that doesn't work, buy a special drill bit that is designed to go through metal (they are available at Lowe's and Home Depot).

**Q: Does this work for hanging a 30ish lb ceiling fan?**
A: The R4 in not rated for ceiling fans. Only the R56.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Recessed Light Converter

I am a remodeling contractor, and I installed this product for a client. This is a useful product for people wishing to have a different lighting system where recessed fixtures are installed, e.g. a pendant over an island. Available for 4", 5", and 6" cans, I used the 4" model. Installation is straightforward, however, I think the instructions should highlight some variations; in some cases it's easier to cut the incoming wires and splice to the new fixture, rather than try to use the screw-in adaptor. Also, I had to tap new hole in the mounting plate, as the existing holes were defective. Aside from these issues, it's a good product and I will use again.
