Solid. Sturdy. Heavy enough that they don’t blow away, but not so heavy I can’t pick them up, when needed. I can’t speak to the self watering function because I use them for faux flowers, but they are really beautiful planters that should last for many years. Review: Excellent! - Wanted something that would hold up outdoors, to replace a couple shrubs at the entrance to garage that had overgrown their spots. These are just the right height, not too big or too small, super strong, and will accommodate growth of our new "fiber optic grass" plants easily. (They love water, so having the reservoir is absolutely perfect for them.) These appear to be extremely high quality, easy to clean, and are made of a material impervious to weather, sun, dirt. There were no holes drilled for drainage but that just allowed us to drill them where we wanted them. We did not opt to drill the holes in the top because we will just water them along with the rest of the containers. They look amazing and we couldn't be happier with them.
