We use this on a 38ft Power Cat, used for commercial offshore fishing charters. It is able to fit a large medical kit, spare flashlight, binoculars, EPIRB, flares and more. Our last one survived around 3 years before the zippers succumbed to too much salt buildup. Highly recommend applying a zipper lubricant/protectant. We have never had to 'ditch' yet, but I am sure this bag will be invaluable if we ever do. One small complaint is that the stitching on the seams could be a bit more rugged. New one has a flap. **Q: Does it have an ectronic beacon?** A: This is just the bag. You could always purchase the Survival Kit that comes with the beacon. **Q: Is there any waterproof charastic to this bag? Concerned about flares getting wet .........** A: The bag will float but you have to unzip it to get to the contents. We bought waterproof containers to store flares and all other items inside the bag.
