Sorry it has taken me long to respond. I bought preprinted table numbers (5 3/4”x5”) to put in the holders for my event and they are a thicker type of card stock. I think a lot depends on what direction you place the card stock as well as what weight you use. (The higher the weight of the paper, the thinner it is. For example….80 lb card stock is thicker than 110 lb card stock). So I just did an experiment and cut a sheet of 80lb and 110lb to 5”x7”. The 80lb leans over a bit at the top. The 110lb stayed up! So if you just use 110lb card stock and no laminating to add weight, it should work. I hope I’m not to late and I hope this helps.
